Amsterdam North: Shipdocks and architecture walk - Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE

You arrive at our office nearby the NDSM wharf where we meet and have a coffee or tea. First visit is the Damen shipyard where large ships are being renovated or maintained. Alongside the IJ water we see the architectual highlight of Kraanspoor after which we visit the NDSM wharf with its robust halls turned into creative artistsspaces and a grafitti & streetartmuseum. This place has been transformed in the last 10 years from a former shipbuildingterrain into a squatters and artistsplace to the current creative and touristfriendly area it now is. We also visit the Pontsteigerbuilding, a masterpiece in modern building. At the end you can visit the museum, have a beer at IJver, take the ferry to the innercity or walk back with me !

HIGHLIGHTS

Kraanspoor building, former two crane construction turn into an office building
NDSM wharf, former shipbuilding place turn into creative art and hospitality
Pontsteiger, landscape building Amsterdam’s one of the most expensive buildings
