Shows Are Standing Room OnlyGene Loves Jezebel: Coalescing in the early 80s and fronted by twin brothers Jay and Michael Aston the band quickly became popular on the indie scene, and by 1985 had established a settled line-up with the additions of Pete Rizzo on bass, Chris Bell on drums and James Stevenson on guitar. Subsequently signing to Beggars Banquet they gained a following throughout Europe and the USA. Following the departure of Michael in 1988 and the imploding of their record label, Savage Records in 1993, the band pursued various projects until the 1999 release of a new batch of tracks, in VII. Further touring followed and in 2017 Dance Underwater was released. Produced by Peter Walsh, it featured a string arrangement by Tony Visconti. The band have just released their tenth studio album, X – Love Death Sorrow, to very positive reviews. Belouis Some: Real name Neville Keighley) singer songwriter from London released his first album Some People in 1985 on Capitol EMI Records. After initial recording in London the album was produced in New York by Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero. Carlos Alomar arranged and played on the tracks and brought together a line up that included Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson (Chic), Carmine Rojas, Robin Clark, Chester Kamen, Guy Fletcher (Dire Straits). The album contained the worldwide hit singles Imagination and Some People with the video for Imagination, directed by Storm Thorgerson, causing controversy as it contained full nudity.In 1986 Belouis Some supported Queen on their Magic stadium tour including opening the famous Knebworth concert, one of the largest concerts ever held in the UK and Freddie Mercurys last ever live performance with Queen. The Belouis Some song Round Round, produced by Bernard Edwards, was included in the 1986 John Hughes movie Pretty In Pink, the platinum selling soundtrack album is on Rolling Stone magazines 25 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time.
