George Porter Jr. TrioGeorge Porter Jr., born in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a legendary bassist, songwriter, and singer renowned for his role in shaping the sound of funk music. As a founding member of The Meters, Porter helped pioneer the genre with hits like Cissy Strut and Look-Ka Py Py. His signature grooves and deeply syncopated bass lines became the foundation of funk, influencing countless musicians across genres.
