Jon Garcia– Trumpet

Jon Garcia is a professional freelancing trumpet player, singer, composer, and clinician. Jon has toured around the world with the B.B. King’s All-Stars aboard the Holland America cruise ships and performed with salsa artists such as Tito Rojas, Tony Vega, Charlie Aponte, Domingo Quinones, Eddie Montalvo, among others. In 2017, he released his first Latin Jazz single recording titled, “Soaring Above the City Streets;” an homage to his birthplace of Brooklyn, NY. He holds two bachelor’s degrees in music education and performance from the University of Connecticut. Jon has served on the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) board of directors as the Equity and Advocacy chair. In addition to teaching and performing, Jon dedicates his time to leading workshops on Salsa Music as a Culturally Responsive Tool to teachers and families around the country.

Eddie Rivera – Guitar & Vocals

Performing since the age of five, Eddy Rivera has graced the stage with his gift of music. His songs encompass a wide variety of styles that range from smooth Salsa melodies to dynamic blends of dance and Latin to create a unique contemporary sound. Eddy personally produces and mixes all songs.

His music is a profound collection of ballads and Salsa dance songs inspired by personal experiences and observations. “Solo Fue Una Ilusión” is a very emotional ballad whose theme centers on the loss of a loved one. As in most of Eddy’s lyrics, the meaning of such loss is left to the listener for interpretation. Despite the sadness that is inherent in many of his songs, a spirit of strength and survival prevails. A young man’s determination and persistence to make it in “One Day” is inspiring to those who have had a taste of rejection much too often.

The flexibility of Eddy’s music can be appreciated by audiences of youth to that of mature adults. His performances include appearances at the Bijou Theater, several street festivals in New York City as well throughout Connecticut parks and restaurants. He has also recorded with Fania Record. Eddy released a cd single “Baila Conmigo” one year ago. His love of children inspired him to write “I Have A Dream,” a song about making a difference in his community and around the world. For many of his songs, Eddy had to relive part of his past and open himself up emotionally to the music. The result—a free flowing, dynamic range of songs which have a healing power all their own.
