Participants will examine their school’s disciplinary interventions and gain tools for shifting those spaces in a restorative direction.

This session will take place in-person at the NewRoot office, located at 910 W Van Buren St. in Chicago, IL from 9:15 AM – 3:15 PM with a 1-hour break for lunch. As parking can be tricky, we advise planning ahead with SpotHero or using public transportation.

Participants in this session are eligible to earn CPDUs. If you are interested in CPDUs, please email chris@newroot.org after attending this workshop.

Session Description:

This day-long session will provide a framework for schools and youth-serving spaces to reimagine in-school suspension and other disciplinary interventions as opportunities for restorative practices and skill-building. Participants will examine the current methods and structures of their disciplinary interventions and gain tools for shifting those spaces in a more restorative direction through restorative conversations, circles, and targeted SEL skill-building lessons and activities.
