A 12-week skills-based program that offers education and support to families facing the challenges of a loved one with Mental Illness in the Four Corners.

Classes are held weekly on Wednesday from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm beginning January 22rd and hosted at Manz & Stacey Coaching & Counseling, NM. 3510 E Messina Dr, Farmington, NM 87402

Education on Mental Illness and Addiction

Information on treatments

Skills training based on DBT in

  • Relationship Mindfulness
  • Effective Communication
  • Application and practice of skills
  • Development of a support network

COURSE GOALS

  • Decreased grief
  • Decreased burden
  • Reduced distress and depression
  • Increased mastery/empowerment

FRAMEWORK OF PROGRAM

Course was developed by a team of practicing clinicians, researchers, family members and people in recovery at Mclean Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

The format of the classes allows group participants to obtain information as well as acquire and practice the application of skills in a confidential and supportive environment.

Group is lead, by Peter Adolphson a Dialectical Behavioral Therapist (DBT), a Registered Nurse, and a 3rd year Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Student at NMSU.

Attendance is limited to 12 individuals who are over 18 years of age and who are not actively in treatment with a psychiatrist.
