Train with members of The Click in this rotating intermediate-advanced contemporary class

Collaborative play is at the heart of all that we create and present: our Classes with the Click series is rooted in our philosophy of recognizing the power of individual voice in conjunction with the power of collective presence. Each class will have a contemporary-focus, with a twist of individuality that speaks to the Click instructors’ interests and specialties within the field.

This series will be held weekly at The Dance Complex and is intended for advanced/professional dancers. If you are looking for an all-levels contemporary class, please check out our Community Contemporary class on Thursday evenings.

About the Instructors:

AUDREY MACLEAN is a Boston-based dance/performance artist. Since graduating from Connecticut College, Audrey has had the pleasure of performing throughout New York and New England in work by Jimena Bermejo, Peter DiMuro, griffindance, Heidi Henderson, Grant Jacoby, Annie Kloppenberg, Betsy Miller, Ruckus Dance, and shovegentlydance. Audrey’s own work has been presented through Green Street Studio’s New Works program, The Dance Complex’s aMaSSiT program, as part of DanceNOW Boston at ART’s Oberon, and was featured on CPTV’s Spotlight on the Arts. In the spring of 2016 she co-produced and curated an evening of short dance/performance work titled “Dance Shorts” which brought together eight Boston-area choreographers. Aside from her own choreographic pursuits, Audrey has served in administrative roles for The Dance Complex, Green Street Studios, and Moving Target Boston. Audrey has also been a guest teacher in both technique and composition classes at: The College of the Holy Cross, Berklee College of Music, Moving Target Portland, Moving Target Boston, Rising Tide Charter School, and Wilmington Dance Academy.

Described by Dance Informa as “grace with power,” ALEXANDRIA NUNWEILER forges community by uncovering true stories — whether that be in the classroom, on stage, or on the yoga mat. Her choreographic work draws the fine line between darkness and humor as it dives deeply into ethnography and collaborative reflection as means for creation. As a performer, Alexandria works within The Click as a founding member in projects for stage, screen, and augmented reality app, as well as devising her first evening-length work Edge of Aquarius that premiered in January 2024. She creates duet stage work and co-heads a curation series with Ashlea Sovetts, a collaboration that spans the east coast and has dipped into international work in Italy. Recently, Alexandria has performed in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival (2021), DanceNOW Boston (2022), and BOOM Charlotte (2022), among others. A lifelong learner, she holds her BA in Dance from Winthrop University (2014), MSc from Hult International Business School (2017), 200-hour RYT from Jenny Lane Yoga (2021) and spent the summer studying at ImPulsTanz International Dance Festival (2022) in Vienna, Austria. She is currently an adjunct professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the Director for Artistic Planning and Development at her home studio Dance Theatre of Greenville (South Carolina).

KRISTIN WAGNER is a dancer, dance maker and movement educator based in the Greater Boston and Worcester areas. After a decade of leaning on yoga to support her mental and physical well-being as a dancer, Kristin began her yoga teaching journey in 2020, completing her RYT-200 certification with Jenny Lane Yoga. Since that time, Kristin has led practices in community settings, yoga studios, and dance studios for yogis with wide ranging ages and experience levels. As a dancer, Kristin has been performing professionally with a number of Boston-based dance companies and independent choreographers since 2012. She makes work independently and as a part of The Click (@the.click.boston) and Decent Dance (@decentdance), and teaches dance in recreational, competitive, pre-professional and professional settings across Massachusetts. In both dance and yoga, Kristin is guided by the belief that authentic, uncensored movement can be a pathway for personal growth and healing.

About The Click:

Developed in 2021, The Click is a collaborative dance company and creative collective in Greater Boston. Its members are dancers whose primary medium of physical expression is through contemporary dance forms, but who experiment in many modes and genres of creativity. As a collective, The Click’s members are each deeply invested in answering the universally complex question: who am I and what am I doing here?

The Click contributes to the consistent presence of creativity in Boston and beyond in several ways: by educating pre-professional youth dancers, professional adult dancers and the dance-curious of any age; performing original creations several times a year at traditional and non-traditional venues across Massachusetts, New England and beyond; and by investing in the curiosity of those new to dance in Boston or new to dance in general by maintaining an open, inclusive and accessible community.
