In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Granville Center for the Arts is honored to present a special screening of Move When the Spirit Says Move: The Legacy of Dorothy Foreman Cotton. This powerful film chronicles the extraordinary life and legacy of Dorothy Foreman Cotton, a trailblazing civil rights leader, and the only woman to serve on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s executive staff.

Dorothy Cotton’s fearless dedication to justice and equality changed countless lives. Through her groundbreaking citizenship education programs, she empowered thousands to embrace their rights and voices. Her stirring freedom songs and unwavering belief in the power within each of us inspired generations of activists and remain a beacon of hope today.

Join us to honor a visionary leader whose contributions to the Civil Rights Movement remind us of the enduring strength of courage, education, and collective action. Dorothy Cotton’s legacy is a call to continue striving for justice, harmony, and freedom for all.
