Folk music legend and six-time Grammy nominee John McCutcheon performs in a concert fundraiser for the Modesto Peace/Life Center on Tuesday, January 14 at 7:00 at the Modesto Church of the Brethren, 2301 Woodland Avenue.

His music addresses issues of injustice and inhumanity and celebrates the tenderest bonds of family, friends, and community. This will be John’s 23rd appearance in Modesto. His concert has been a celebration of community in challenging times, bringing us together in our yearning for a better world.

In-person tickets available at Intrinsic Elements (1214 J St., Modesto 209–409-8510) by cash or check for $30, or at the door for $35. New price for 30 years old and younger is $10.

John posts: “I am preparing for my umpteenth Left Coast Tour, this time unexpectedly solo, as my old pal Tom Paxton equally unexpectedly retired from touring following a couple of medical issues. He’s fine but decided to finally listen to his doctor, his body, and his daughters and hang up his traveling shoes. He’s still writing like the master he’s always been but the rigors of the road take a toll on all of us. My day will come, I know, but, for now, I can still haul my mountain of gear onto Delta and will make my way out West, as I’ve done now for over forty years each January. I’ll surely include some of Tom’s classic songs in the shows as well as many of the songs we’ve written during our weekly Zoom writing sessions…including a handful of the songs we’re planning on including in our forthcoming second collaborative album we’ll be recording this March.”
