Join us for a night of groovy goodness featuring SHEBAD, THE BEANS, and JUNESTONE at The Casbah Hamilton on Thursday January 9. SHEBAD is the creative spirit of visual artist and vocalist Claire Voy and multi-instrumentalist Ciccio Spagnolo. This Guelph-based music project plays on the exploratory realm of Indie Soul, characterized by jazz-influenced melodies, danceable basslines, and Claire’s transcendent voice. Their sound is a synthesis of influences like Stevie Wonder, Hiatus Kaiyote, Amy Winehouse, Daft Punk, and Erykah Badu, making the music compelling and curious with lyrics from the heart. CBC’s Laila Biali aptly describes their sound as “Music that exists in a sonic world of its own”.

Born and raised in the east end of Hamilton Ontario, The Beans create a rich sonic concoction out of their diverse musical and cultural backgrounds. Melting dreamy psychedelic melodies, and upbeat disco and latin inspired rhythms into energetic rock and roll, The Beans experience is always fresh and playful, reflecting the light-hearted spirit of three friends who have been creating together since childhood.

Named for the sixth month of the year and a semi-precious stone said to protect travelers by night and water, Junestone is the musical outpouring of alt-funk fusion bassist and jazz-pop vocalist Olivia Brown. Grounded in America’s Classical Music and 90s alternative hits alike, Olivia’s take on songwriting is dynamic, refreshing, and as sincere as it is beguiling.

Junestone is based out of Hamilton, Ontario, where Olivia was born and grew up. Inspired by landscapes and the people she meets, her lyrics depict moments of self-realization, true love, and having a great time. Recordings and live shows feature the incredible musical talents of Borys Franiczek (guitar), Ian Aisling (keyboards), and Justin McHugh (drums). The band’s first album, FIRST TRY, began release in the fall of 2024 and will be fully available online everywhere on December 30!
