TULA VERA: Spooky blues with a punk psych rock edge, Tula Vera has been dazzzling crowds since their arrival on the scene with genre defying musical magic. Their two self-released full length albums, and two most recent EP’s has garnered a dedicated following from the east coast and beyond. Tula Vera’s Hypnotizing guitar licks, formidably catchy melodies, and rhythm section that demands boisterous dancing as well as gentle swaying has solidified themselves as diy legends, and mainstays in music scenes across the country.

Rat Motel: Rat Motel emerged with astounding elegance and ease for a structure of its size. When Old Man Winkle retired to the master suite for the last time there was a brief but violent power struggle resulting in the ascension of the brothers Peacock. (The rats, though indelibly embittered by this conclusion, were nonetheless satisfied that none of their own had clawed their way to the top.) In a fit of existential dread, unendearing arrogance, and a desperate yearning for eternity, a lofty aspect of the Motel rechristened itself “THE” Rat Motel, though the lower being refuses to carry the pretenses of such a definite article. It is what it is and that is enough. But try as The Rat Motel might to manifest the mad speculation of Zeno, the fact remains that Zeno was wrong. The infinite sum of one half raised to the power of each of the natural numbers is indeed equal to one; the hare will overtake the tortoise; and even THE Rat Motel, which towers below the universe with grinning pride, will one day crumble into THE dust of The Empty Plane with a predictable lack of elegance and ease.

Canella: The members of indie-rock band Canella love to create. They meet up in the basement, akin to the ones they frequently play in Albany, NY, to write, record, and enjoy each other’s company.

Juliana Castrillón, lead singer and songwriter from Bogotá, Colombia, brings her criss-cross applesauce bedroom acoustic songs to the rest of the band. Bassist Joe Taurone, guitarist Gabe Klingler-Horn, and drummer Dan Carr take the songs in, and output what they think is right, funny, or stupid. This makes them smile and laugh. Once the songs are done, they play them with all of their might on stage. Juliana dances and flails, and the other members quickly follow suit. Canella loves playing with their fellow Albany bands usually composed of their own band members and other Tummy Rub Records’ musicians, and they have won a couple of awards from the local college radio station WCDB in 2021 and 2022 for ‘Best Song of the Year’. Canella has heavy riffs and pop melodies that they’d love to share with you.
