The Downtown Austin Alliance is teaming up with Shaolin Jazz to present the CAN I KICK IT? Downtown Austin Movie Series in Republic Square.

The Downtown Austin Alliance presents a whole new outdoor movie experience in Republic Square. They are teaming up with the creators of Shaolin Jazz to present the first-ever CAN I KICK IT? Downtown Austin Movie Series.

At each event movies will be scored live (scene-by-scene) with a blend of Hip Hop, Soul, Rock and more mixed by DJ 2-Tone Jones. The result is a live, remixed soundtrack to the movies using music to complement the dialogue and story line while also incorporating special DJ techniques to accentuate elements in different scenes.

On Friday, November 22 come enjoy a screening of one of the biggest superhero movies The Last Dragon (PG-13), starring Taimak, Vanity and Julius Carry. In the film Leroy Green is a young man in New York City searching to obtain the final level of martial arts mastery known as the Glow.

The events are free for all ages and open to the public. Each night the festivities will kick off at 7pm with an opening DJ set, followed by the film shortly after 8pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks and other amenities will be on site.
