Join us for a spicy showdown at the UHD Chili Cook-Off – taste, judge, and vote for your favorite chili recipe!

This year is even more special as UHD celebrates its 50th Anniversary. Join us at the University of Houston-Downtown for a sizzling good time at our annual Chili Cook-Off! The Family-Friendly event will feature a live DJ, carnival games, giveaways, face painting, a live band, an amazing skyline view, and more! Bring your appetite and taste-test some of the best chili recipes around. Whether you’re a spice enthusiast or prefer a milder flavor, there’s something for everyone at this flavorful event. Don’t miss the chance to vote for your favorite chili and see who will be crowned the Chili Champion! See you there!

  • Please print out your ticket and present it at the hospitality table so you can receive your punch card and sample the teams’ chili.
  • The event is open to all UHD staff, students, faculty, alumni, friends, and family.
  • Complimentary beer for those over 21 years of age will be provided by Saint Arnold Brewing Company beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a limit of three beers per guest.
  • Children under 12 years of age are free.

****UHD Employee Event Guidelines:

  • On November 1, staff may attend the Chili Cook-off beginning at 3:00 p.m., provided there is at least one person on duty in each department until 5:00 p.m. to accept calls, receive visitors, or transact business, as required by state law.
  • In addition, since this is a university function, alcohol may not be consumed before 5:00 p.m. If employees choose to drink alcohol before 5:00 p.m., they must take accrued paid leave (vacation or compensatory time).
