THE HALLOWEEN HANGOUT 2024-Open every Fri, Sat and Sun throughout October! – Palmyra, VA

Join us for our 3rd season this fall as we showcase our best attractions yet! THE HALLOWEEN HANGOUT is open each weekend throughout the month of October and also Halloween, with something unique and fun to offer the entire family! We are located at Hilldale Homestead, a 200+ year old historic farm in Palmyra, VA, a mere 30 minute drive from Pantops in Charlottesville.

The Halloween Hangout offers a Kid Zone with Selfie Station, an Enchanted Hay Ride, a Haunted Forest, and a Fortune Teller reading your palm in a historic corn crib! Additionally, we have a Sunflower Fort, Forest of Frames, Corn Hole Boards, Candy Dice Game, and more! At just $10 per ticket, there is no better place to enjoy fall fun than right here in your own backyard!

Throughout the month of October, we are open every weekend as follows:

Fridays-4:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Saturdays-2:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Sundays-2:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Halloween Day-5:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Our venue covers approximately 13-(beautiful and historic) acres and consists of the following:

KID ZONE

This area of our venue features fun activities for everyone and will surely be a hit to all who visit it. It includes our Selfie Station with mirrors, costumes, and props that our guests can get creative with! There is a lighted spider playset, picture props, hills and slides, our Candy Dice Game, and more! This year we’ve also added a 10-foot black plexiglass “coloring board” with neon markers for all your drawing fun!

ENCHANTED HAY RIDE

Pulled behind a full-size tractor, our hay wagon is the perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride, complete with soft hay, music, and blankets for snuggling! Each 25-minute ride winds through the woods and offers ALL our guests an “enchanted” way to enjoy the fall season, with beautiful scenery along the way. Also featured are 10 lighted displays, each with an individual theme for fall fun! This experience will surely bring delight and “enchantment” to everyone on board!

HAUNTED FOREST (Opens at 6 p.m. each day.)

Snaking it’s way alongside our pond and through the woods is our Haunted Forest. Situated directly across from 3 unmarked graves and with a storyline to match, this attraction features fun spooks with a bit of comedy thrown into the mix! We give this attraction a 5 on the scare factor of 1-10!

FORTUNE TELLER

Interested in seeing your future? Visit our historic corn crib and have your palm read in a mystical setting! Let us read your palm and give you the fortune you’ve been waiting for!

GRASSY FIELD AND FOOD

We have a beautiful, centrally-located open field for you and your family to hang out in and enjoy! This area has numerous picture-taking opportunities, along with music and games like Corn Hole to play! This is a great area to lay out a blanket and toss a football, or throw a ball for your playful pooch to catch! (If bringing a pet, please bring your own bags to clean up after them, thank you!)

*NEW this year! We have also added a community bonfire area where you can enjoy the stars, chat with neighbors, and roast marshmellows for s’mores! Bags of s’mores will be available for sale for $4 each!

This year we are also proud to partner with Danny’s Bar and Grill from Lake Monticello for all your yummy eats!

HOW TO PURCHASE A TICKET:

There are a number of ways you can purchase your ticket.

(In advance) At Eventbrite online. *NOTE-YOU WILL PAY TAXES AND SERVICE FEES WHEN PURCHASING TICKETS ONLINE! We will NOT refund these fees for those who haven’t read this warning!

(At the door) Tickets CAN be purchased at the door with cash, Venmo, or CashApp. (Please make Venmo payments to @halloweenhangout and CashApp payments to $hhangout). We are currently working on adding Google Wallet and Apple Pay to our list of acceptable app payments, which will be added to this list prior to opening.

Tickets are non-refundable. (If we are closed due to inclement weather, you may use your ticket on an alternate date of your choice; however, unused tickets due to weather closings are non-refundable.). Visiting property and use of facilities are done entirely at visitor’s own risk. Farm, owners, and/or staff are not responsible for visitor’s property left unattended at any time. Drugs and alcohol of any kind are not permitted on the premises. Entrance to property constitutes permission for management to photograph or video anyone while on the premises and to use those photos or videos for any lawful purpose without written permission or compensation to the individual. Lastly, BEFORE YOU JUDGE, every single thing that has put together to make this possible for our community has been built by just ONE PERSON. ONE. No hired hands, and no help! This includes EVERYTHING from hand-painting all the artwork you will see throughout the venue, to all the attractions, to all the marketing…EVERYTHING. Additionally, this person has spent the past 2 years undergoing reconstructive foot surgery on both feet, yet has still managed to get out every day throughout the entire year to work tirelessly to make this event possible for those in our area to enjoy.
