Aleah Black Book Release Dance Party @ Hit Me Up – New York, NY

This Halloween, join Aleah Black (Gendersauce) to celebrate the release of their poetry book, It Is Always A Circle. Part poetry book, part coffee table art book, part spell book, It Is Always A Circle dives deep into the cycles that make up human experience. The poems track the reader’s journey from death into life, from despair into hope. Each page is filled with original linocuts, drawings, and poems. Come for a book reading and signing with the author, and stay for a Halloween dance party.

A portion of all profits from this event will be donated to “For the Gworls,” an organization that provides rent and medical bill assistance to Black trans folks.

About the Instructor

Aleah Black is an artist, educator, and fool. They make puppets and poems, teach adults and children, and cause a general ruckus. They delight in bringing magic, storytelling, and play to their New York City community and beyond.

Accessibility

The venue is fully accessible via an elevator and has an accessible bathroom. There are stairs to go between floors, if you need accommodation for moving between floors please contact hello@hitmeupnyc.com and we will arrange elevator access for you.

Fools, Devils, Angels, & Kings. Feel free to be one, a blend, or all of them. Please put in effort, minimum of all black clothing.

FAQ: Hit Me Up is hosting this event. Is this a play event?

Nope! This is a book reading and dance party.

FAQ: How are you keeping this event safe and welcoming?

There will be Guardians throughout the evening to make sure that everyone is experiencing a safe and consensual environment, including during the dance portion of the night. This event is fully wheelchair/mobility aid accessible and there will be a chill sensory zone on one of the floors throughout the night.

FAQ : Can I buy the book at the event?

Yes! Aleah Black will have copies of the book for purchase and to be signed.
