FREE EVENT: Family Day featuring PBS KIDS characters and family activities. – Conway, AR

Join Arkansas PBS for the popular Family Day community event on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free public event encourages community spirit through family-friendly fun, entertainment and educational activities. The event will be held at the statewide network headquarters, 350 S. Donaghey Ave., Conway. Families are encouraged to RSVP here.

Central Arkansas PBS Family Day will feature PBS costume characters, free snacks for children, live entertainment, hands-on kid’s activities and games, studio tours, giveaways and prizes, face painting and a PBS pop-up shop.

Special guests for the day include Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George, Daniel Tiger and more! Families are invited to meet and take photos with the characters.

Arkansas PBS is proud to partner with the Arkansas Foodbank at this event to gather donations of after-school and weekend snacks for families who struggle with food insecurity. We are asking Family Day attendees to bring non-perishable kid-friendly food items as a donation. Suggested items include granola bars, juice boxes, gummy/fruit snacks, noodle cups and raisins.

Additionally, Arkansas PBS has planned free activities and entertainment for the entire family:

• Children are encouraged to dress as their favorite PBS KIDS characters.
• Inflatable bounce houses.
• Fun activities and giveaways.
• Live music performances by mömandpöp and Papa Rap.

• Old State House Museum traveling exhibit, “Lights! Camera! Action!”
• A presentation with live animals from the Little Rock Zoo.
• Interactive activities and demos from The Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub, Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, Faulkner County Library, Conway Symphony Orchestra, Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Forestry Division, and EAST Initiative, among others.
• Exploration of a giant brain with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
• Demonstrations from Arkansas Circus Arts.
• A bicycle rodeo from the Conway Advocates for Bicycling.
• A family-building game with Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.
• A first-aid station from Baptist Health.
• Face painting.
• Exploration of a firetruck with the Conway Fire Department.
• Sidewalk chalk art time and bubbles

• Story time.

• Popcorn, fresh fruit, string cheese, Goldfish and drinks from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Local food trucks will be on hand to provide additional food and snacks for purchase.
