An evening of poetry, story, and celebration for the release of Mercedes DeVine Good's debut memoir, Writes of Passage.
Join me as I celebrate the release of Writes of Passage, a poetic memoir tracing my crossing from girl to mother at thirteen.
This book is told in parts, some of it story, some of it poem, because some things could only come out in a straight sentence, and some things only came out sideways. It sits with the confusion, the shame, the pressure, and also the love and the strength I didn’t know I had until I needed it. I wrote it for the girl living it right now, for the woman still making sense of who she had to become too soon, and for anybody trying to understand what got left behind.
August 9th, we’re making it a celebration. Expect a live performance, a reading, and a room full of people who understand what it means to grow up in public.
