Tulum: Ek Balam Ruins, Tequila Tasting & Lunch Private Tour - Tulum, Mexico
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

We start our journey with one of the wonders of the Yucatan, cenotes. Cenotes are considered entrances to the underworld by the Mayans. We’ll have a refreshing swim in its crystal clear waters and see interesting rock formations while we rest a bit and cool off to continue our journey thru Mayaland.
Ek Balam is one of the new jewels of Mayan archaeology and our personal favorite! There are incredibly well- preserved stucco sculptures over 1200 years old which you witness up close by climbing the Acropolis, a nearly 100 ft. tall temple. The views are outstanding. Come and see for yourself this Mayan ruin.
Along the return, we make a stop at the Destilería Artesanal de Agave Mayapán, a small but wonderful local distillery that is making tiny batch of Agave where we will taste the local version of what is known as tequila. Since we are not in the Tequila region of Mexico, here it is known as Agave.
In Valladolid, you will find one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in the Yucatan Peninsula. This is where we usually have lunch and enjoy the sights on our way through to one of the archaeological sites. We will stop here to shop as well. You can purchase excellent honey products, such as a honey liqueur called Xtabentun.
