EXPERIENCE:

Our guide will lead you along a beautiful route through the Vatican Museums, highlighting the Carriage Gallery, also known as the ‘Garage of the Pope’ where the Popemobile is located, The Staircase of Momo, the Hall of the Animals, the Laocoon Group, the Torso of the Belvedere, the Bath of Nero, the Gallery of Flemish Tapestries designed by the school of Rafael and the Gallery of Maps – a gem. Then comes the Sistine Chapel where Pope Julius II put Michelangelo to work in 1508. Admire Michelangelo’s breathtaking Creation Story – with more than 300 figures on a ceiling area of more than 500m2, this is one of the most special works of art in the world. Twenty years later, Michelangelo returns once more to paint the altar wall. This artwork has been known as The Last Judgment since its completion in 1541. Thanks to your passionate guide, who has unraveled every secret of the chapel, you will have got to know Michelangelo as if you were there yourself. You knew that this is where the Conclave takes place, right?
We leave the museums via the imposing ‘Scala Regia’ and arrive at St. Peter’s Square. At the famous Bronze Gate you will come face to face with the Swiss Guards. The tour ends at the main entrance with an introduction to St. Peter’s Basilica after which the guide says goodbye to you. Now you can visit for yourself. Admission is free and you no longer have to queue in the long lines on the square.
Tip!: Go for the beautiful view from the dome (buy your ticket on site at the box office).
