Rome: The Undergrounds of Trastevere Tour with Private Guide - Rome, Italy
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

The name of the neighborhood “Trastevere” literally means “Beyond the Tiber”.
In ancient times, Jews and Freedmen (the slaves who had bought their freedom) lived here. Trastevere, is one of the most beautiful and ancient districts of the city, rich in history, legends and underground sites.
We will begin our journey to discover the curiosities of Trastevere, such as the Republican Forums.
We will visit undergrounds of extraordinary and unusual churches.
The basement of San Nicola in prison, which preserves three republican temples (before imperial Rome) and where the legend tells us the Saint Nicholas was imprisoned. Then we will cross the Tiber river, up to the Tiber Island. A magical place dedicated to medicine where the ancient “do well brothers” hospital is still located today, to get to visit, in the heart of the neighborhood, one of the first churches in Rome, today underground.
Finally I will take you to the heart of the Trastevere, between sinuous alleys and extraordinary curiosities, to stop at the end of the experience to taste some peculiarities of Roman food.
Other things to keep in mind
The experience is suitable for everyone.
