Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome by Train – Naples, Italy

EXPERIENCE:

Take a fun day tour to make new friends and discover Naples and Pompeii with local guides. Hop aboard your train in Rome in the morning and head to the historic city of Pompeii. Along the way, listen as your guide sheds light on the horrific eruption that ended life in the city in 79 AD. On arrival to Pompeii, you have two hours to explore the site at your leisure. Use your map to explore at your own pace and take in key landmarks including the Forum, the Temples, and the Markets, for which the site is famous. Tickets to the site and maps will be provided and you will be able to hire audioguides or organize a guided tour with a licensed tour guide. Then join your tour leader for lunch and eat the famous Italian pizza.

Travel onward to Naples, widely considered one of Italy’s prettiest coastal cities. Follow your guide through the historic streets and squares. Walk through the old city centre, pass Spaccanapoli street, San Gregorio market, and Piazza del Gesù. If there is time, continue towards Piazza Plebiscito, San Carlo’s Theatre, Umberto I the Gallery, Maschio Angioino, and more. There is a lot of walking involved so be ready to sweat off the pizza. As you explore, gain insight into Naples’ rich history and colorful culture. Perhaps treat yourself to a sweet at the famous Rhum Babà. Then have free time to wander around and soak up the atmosphere or visit some of the famous museums. When your time in Naples comes to an end, return in comfort to Rome.
