EXPERIENCE

Departing from the city of Huaraz, you will head to the northern part of the Callejón de Huaylas. Arriving in Carhuaz, you will make a short stop to buy breakfast and snacks for the road. Tour the landscapes and towns of the picturesque Huaylas Valley, through which the Santa River meanders.

Head to a lookout point for a panoramic view of the Cordillera Blanca and the snow-capped peaks of Huandoy Huascaran and Chopicalqui.

Then, continue to Marcara, a town characterized by its traditional customs and clothing. Visit the main square and the church of San Pedro. The route continues to the ancient city of Yungay, which was buried by an avalanche during the earthquake of May 1970.

Then head to Lake Paron, the highlight of the day. Be amazed by the turquoise blue lake, surrounded by glacial peaks rising to over 6,000 meters. Lake Parón is one of the largest lakes in the Cordillera Blanca.

The last stop will be in Caraz, where you will be able to see the Plaza de Armas, the city’s famous sweet shops and other important sites. You will then return to your hotel in Huaraz.
