ABOUT THIS SESSION: Story-based Trauma Healing adapts the Healing the Wounds of Trauma approach for people with low literacy and/or people who prefer story-based learning—including those who speak minority languages with no written form of Scriptures. It is designed for flexibility and easy deployment by church leaders and laypeople once materials are developed and learned. Similar to the Initial and Advanced equippings, there is an evaluation during this Story-based equipping session that consists of:

• Participant’s self-awareness of impact on others and the ability to interact well in a group
• Participant’s overall emotional well-being
• Practice telling stories and facilitating a group in a participatory way that demonstrates knowledge of the content and the ability to draw out the principles through discussions and activities. with feedback on your strengths and suggestions to address areas needing improvement.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Mental health professionals can also benefit from this practical approach that is effective with groups cross-culturally. This session is appropriate for caregivers who will work in the USA or internationally among communities that prefer oral learning. We recommend attending with at least one other person so you can work together to implement Trauma Healing in your context.

• Able to communicate in English
• At least 18 years old
• Able to manage personal well-being
• Have sufficient status to lead others in the community
• Committed to helping trauma survivors
• Able to dedicate time to lead trauma healing groups
• Able to attend the entire session
