POTUS Among Us: Beyond Belief – Washington, DC

What’s the truth about WIT’s (fictitious) presidential candidates? Come find out–and maybe spread some of your own rumors along the way.

Washington Improv Theater’s unscripted election satire POTUS Among Us: Beyond Belief celebrates its twentieth anniversary with a 2024 edition that puts audiences in control of the candidates’ political future. This year’s edition explores rumor and misinformation—how do we understand truth in an age of misinformation. And what role do we all play in spreading rumors?

Each performance introduces a different motley cast of candidates running to be commander-in-chief. These outlandish characters will face off in debates, combat (or spread) misinformation, and take on rumors (perhaps started by the audience themselves!). The audience will help narrow the field down to two final candidates and ultimately vote to elect a winner each night.

For 25 years, Washington Improv Theater’s experienced teams of improv comedians have taken a simple suggestion or story from an audience member and turned it into a never-before-seen comedy show. And because every performance is based on an audience suggestion, that night’s show will never happen again! Our homegrown talent has gone on to SNL, The Daily Show, HBO’s Insecure and The White Lotus, and more!
