About This One We Call Ours. . .

Martha Silano’s award-winning new collection is a passionate cry on behalf of the Earth and all who dwell upon it. Very few poets have dared to show us, so clearly, the edge of peril to which we have brought our only home. This is a staggeringly important book.

Martha Silano’s previous poetry collections include Gravity Assist (2019), Reckless Lovely (2014), and The Little Office of the Immaculate Conception (2011), winner of the Saturnalia Books Poetry Prize and a Washington State Book Award finalist, all published by Saturnalia Books. She is also co-author, with Kelli Russell Agodon, of The Daily Poet: Day-by-Day Prompts for Your Writing Practice (Two Sylvias Press, 2013). Martha’s poems have appeared in Poetry, Paris Review, American Poetry Review, Kenyon Review, The Missouri Review, and in many anthologies, including Cascadia: A Field Guide Through Art, Ecology, and Poetry (Mountaineers Books, 2023), Dear America: Letters of Hope, Habitat, Defiance, and Democracy (Trinity University Press, 2019), and the Best American Poetry series (Norton, 2009). Awards include North American Review’s James Hearst Poetry Prize and The Cincinnati Review’s Robert and Adele Schiff Poetry Prize. (Photo credit: Langdon Cook)
