We are Houston’s only consistent poetry slam showcase, and a poetry slam ain’t just a poetry reading. A poetry slam is a fun, energy-filled and competitive poetry event in which the best poets from Houston perform their work and are judged by random members of the audience. Typically, the host or another organizer selects the judges, who are instructed to give numerical scores (on a zero to 10 scale) based on the poets’ content and performance. The high score and the low score are dropped and the rest are added to give the poet their score for that round. The scores are added across the rounds and a final score it tallied and the top 3 scores win cash prizes. 2 Rounds.
