Experience the most advanced class IV rapids in New Mexico on this full day whitewater rafting trip, perhaps the premier one-day wilderness trip in the US- the “Taos Box”.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience some of the most advanced class IV rapids in New Mexico on this full-day whitewater rafting trip.

Spanning 17 miles and starting just northwest of Taos, this excursion begins with a stretch of tranquil waters allowing for teamwork practice and paddle skills rehearsal. Further downstream, adrenaline awaits with rapids like Ski Jump, Dead Car, and Powerline Falls. Even amid the escalating whitewater, take moments to admire northern New Mexico’s scenic beauty—spotting bald eagles perched high on cliffs or great blue herons by the river’s edge is not uncommon. Bighorn Sheep sightings are almost guaranteed on this remarkable journey.

The final leg, the “Rio Bravo” or wild river section, covers the last two-and-a-half miles. Here, it’s an exhilarating sequence of challenging Class III or IV rapids followed by brief breaks, and ending with the grand finale, Sunset Rapid. This demanding yet beautiful and exciting rafting experience seamlessly merges excitement with beauty.
