2023 STATE FAIR CLASSIC WEEKEND PARTIES & EVENTS
The State Fair Classic is an annual college football extravaganza that draws passionate fans from Louisiana and Southern Texas to witness the showdown between the Grambling State University Tigers and the Prairie View A&M University Panthers, both prominent teams in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. This highly anticipated event takes place at the historic Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, and has been a cherished tradition since its inception in 1925 when it featured the Wiley College Wildcats and Langston University Lions. The inaugural game kicked off on Monday, October 19, 1925, marking the beginning of an enduring legacy. For the first four years, Dallas hosted this exhilarating clash, until Prairie View took the reins in 1929, replacing Langston. Notably, the early seeds of “Monday Night Football” can be traced back to the Texas State Fair Classic and Louisiana’s own State Fair Classic, as both competitions thrilled audiences on Monday nights throughout the 1920s into the 1960s. The weekend surrounding the State Fair Classic is a whirlwind of excitement, filled with game-day fervor, post-game parties, and a multitude of events that keep fans engaged throughout the entire weekend.
