Explore the rich maritime history and vibrant marine life of the Mama Viña wreck and reef in Playa del Carmen.

EXPERIENCE:

Dive into the fascinating world of Mamá Viña, a renowned wreck site just south of Xcaret. This sunken shrimping boat, intentionally submerged in 1996, houses a variety of corals and marine life, including moray eels, rays, and sharks. With depths of approximately 30m/100ft, the wreck defies prevailing currents, providing a captivating experience for divers. While suitable for those new to wreck diving, caution is advised for recreational divers without overhead environment training. The site, adorned with coral, is not challenging but warrants advanced consideration due to depth, potential currents, and the overhead environment.

Preserved almost intact, this site rests at approximately 100ft(30m) depth, facing the predominant south-north current.
