Take a look at the itinerary:
• Private pickup at your address in Siena at 9:00am.
• We will travel along one of the most famous wine roads, until we reach the Castle of Monteriggioni.
• Monteriggioni Castle is a fortified outpost, built by the Republic of Siena and strategic point of control of the passages on the ancient “Via Francigena”. The Monteriggioni Castle today is one of the most incredible and representative Tuscan villages of the medieval period. The castle has a spectacular walkway on the walls, from where you can see the Chianti valley. If you want you can also visit the Museum of Medieval Weapons located in the Castle. Leaving Monteriggioni, take a country road until you reach the famous village of San Gimignano where we will stop for a second stop for a self-guided tour.
• San Gimignano: The visit to the town and its magnificent towers will last about an hour. San Gimignano is a small fortified medieval hill town not far from Siena. Known as the “City of Beautiful Towers”, during the Middle Ages there were more than 70 towers in the city. Now it is a real open-air museum, where it feels like walking in the medieval period. The city is known for saffron, Prosciutto d’Oro and its white wine: “Vernaccia di San Gimignano”, produced from the ancient Vernaccia grape variety that is grown on the sandstone hills of the area. In the main square, don’t forget to taste the best ice cream in the world (Gelateria Dondoli), and in the streets of the town you can admire the extraordinary work of expert artisans. If you wish, you can climb the museum tower (Torre Rognosa) and admire a magnificent view of the Tuscan hills.
• After the free visit to San Gimignano, the tour crosses one of the most beautiful “Tuscan wine routes” with a stop among the vineyards and olive trees to take more beautiful photos, until reaching Florence and your final location (Hotel, B&B or private apartment).
