EXPERIENCE

Leaving the city of Ushuaia, heading southwest, we will travel along national route No. 3, towards the Tierra del Fuego National Park.

In the eleven kilometers that separate the front of the park from the city of Ushuaia, we will stop at the golf course, where we will have excellent panoramic views of the Beagle Channel, the Ushuaia peninsula and the Bridges, Willie and Les Eclaireurs archipelagos.

After crossing the Pipo River bridge, next to the Ushuaia Golf Club, we will arrive at the Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino station, the Train to the End of the World. After visiting this picturesque station where we can learn a little about the history of this mythical Train, we will continue the journey 2 more kilometers to enter the National Park, an area reserved for the protection of the Subantarctic Forest, native flora and fauna.

The first stop within the park will be in Bahía Ensenada from where we will have excellent panoramic views of the Beagle Channel and its Islands. At this point we will find the southernmost postbox in the world. We recommend bringing your postcard to deposit it here in case the post office is closed. In the latter we also have health services.

Along the road surrounded by Lengas forests and peat bogs, we will reach Lake Acigami (formerly Lake Roca), a lake of glacial origin, whose surface is 5.50 square kilometers, framed by mountains and forests, where it is possible to see specimens of birds.

A few minutes from Lake Acigami we will make a stop at the Alakush Visitor Center where we will have approximately 20 minutes free. It has services such as a cafeteria, restaurant, bathrooms, souvenir shop and a small museum.

The last section of the excursion takes us to Lapataia Bay, after crossing the cormorant archipelago, peat bogs and visiting a beaver dam. In the latter we will take a small trail where we can see up close the incredible work created by this small animal. In Lapataia Bay, in addition to the sea coast, rich in mollusks and mussels, we will find vestiges of the ancient aboriginal people that inhabited the region. There we will have time to walk the walkway from which we can take photographs and enjoy the feeling of being at the end of the world.

From this place, the end of National Route No. 3, we will begin our return to the city of Ushuaia.
