You can reach the crater with a 20/25 minute climbing walk. The crater entrance is included with an internal volcano guide, which is a 2-hour stop. Pompeii and Herculaneum are vast archaeological sites.

Once a flourishing and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii and Herculaneum were buried under meters of ash and pumice by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The site is constantly evolving thanks to the continuous excavations that offer new discoveries every year.
