Naples: Day Trip to Pompeii and Capri - Naples, Italy
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

Enjoy a tour of contrasts on a combined 8-hour day trip from Naples to Pompeii and Capri. Stroll around the ruins of a former city of the Roman Empire, and then join the jet set on a glittering jewel of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Following a pick-up from your hotel in Naples (main hotels only), or from the Cruise Terminal or Napoli Centrale train station, drive to Pompeii, approximately 25 minutes along the highway.
Upon arrival, an archaeologist guide will lead you around the site after your skip-the-line entrance. See the most significant buildings to build a picture of life in the Roman Republic, such as theaters, the Forum, Stabian Baths, House of the Faun, and House of the Tragic Poet.

Return to Naples and climb aboard a hydrofoil for a 45-minute sea crossing to the island of Capri. Here, your guide will take you to the funicular that leads uphill through lemon groves from Marina Grande to the Piazzetta. Enjoy some free time to shop, and stop for a coffee at the Gran Caffè Vuotto.

Wander the narrow streets to find boutique fashion stores and local craft shops. Enjoy panoramic views from the belvedere of the Gardens of Augustus. Look across at sights such as Via Krupp, Mount Solaro, the Bay of Marina Piccola, and the Faraglioni sea stacks of Capri.

Return to the funicular to board the hydrofoil back to the port of Naples. From the port, cruise passengers can walk back to their cruise ship, while hotel guests will be transferred by minivan to their hotels.
