London: Romantic Poetry Walking Tour and Writing Workshop – London, United Kingdom

EXPERIENCE:

We meet in Bunhill Fields cemetery, a short walk from Old Street Underground. We are introduced to the grave of William Blake and use his visionary poetry as a prompt for our first writing exercise. From here, we head to The Barbican, discover street poetry, craft a response and then stop in at the cafe to share and critique our work. We then follow in the footsteps of Daniel Defoe’s Moll Flanders, reading about her criminal adventures in and around Smithfields. Our final stop is St Giles’ Cripplegate, where our exercises are brought together for a final piece in the extraordinary surroundings of the church.
The tour provides literary history and anecdotes of the city, but it is not a passive experience: you will respond to the environment in creative ways, in an atmosphere of kindness and inclusivity. This is an intimate workshop that seeks to inspire and invigorate, suitable for writers at any stage of their development, from novice to novelist.
