Lleida: Private Owl Handling Experience – Catalonia, Spain

EXPERIENCE:

Interact with the many species of owls that live in Catalonia in a private handling session. The birds you will meet at the zoo have all been rescued and rehabilitated, but are unable to return to nature. You’ll learn about the owls from an expert and be taught how to feed, carry and fly them.
The owl species you will meet include Scops owls, Boreal owls, Little owls, Barn owls, Long-eared owls and Eagle owls. These owls have all been rescued by the zoo and due to injury, illness or old age, cannot return to the wild.
After an introduction from an expert on birds of prey, you’ll be given some professional teaching materials on owls and have a chance to interact with the birds. You’ll be taught about their diet and get a chance to feed them, before moving on to handling and flying.
For the brave participants, you even have the option to handle an Eagle owl and experience the feeling of it launching off your arm.
