Imperial Rome with re-enactment of the games of Ancient Rome - Rome, Italy
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

The favourite amusements were usually gladiator fights, those with wild beasts (venationes), the reproduction of naval battles (naumachia), chariot races, athletic competitions, theatrical performances of mimes and pantomimes.
But the most widespread one was not among them.
The best known and most widespread was what the Romans called “tesserae”: the game of dice.
These “tesserae” were made of ivory, bone, bronze or amber and had six sides marked with numbers.
Typically, two or three dice were rolled, using the fritilus. What counted in this game was counting the points that came out of each roll of the dice.

Description: the experience begins starting from the Trajan’s Forum, Augustus’ Forum and Part of the Roman Forum. Going up the via sacra Colosseum and finally Aco di Costantino and Circus Maximus where you will have the opportunity thanks to an expert historian to recall some games of ancient dice, knucklebones, lusoriae tiles, navia et capita, the micatio Trigon etc.
