  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

After checking in at the starting point, you will head towards Etna, along the way your professional guide will tell you about the history, culture and traditions of the volcano. You will walk along paths not ruined by mass tourism and you will appreciate the flora and fauna of the place. The tour will highlight different aspects of the volcano, such as its nature and resources, its sensational landscapes and its impressive lava flows that have destroyed roads and buildings. The first stop will be Milo, a small town in the Etna park, from which you can admire the Ionian coast with Taormina and the summit part of the volcano. On the north-east side of the Etna volcano you will visit the Sartorius Mountains, made up of seven dormant craters dating back to the 1865 eruption. The area is surrounded by woods of very white birch trees and you will be able to appreciate the singularity of one of the places of the highest naturalistic interest that Sicily can boast. After a short stop at a typical Etna refuge, equipped with helmet and torch you will visit the “Grotta delle Nevi” or also called “Grotta dei Ladroni”, a small lava flow tunnel that opens into a prehistoric flow. The tour will end in Zafferana Etnea with a tasting of local specialties including honey, wine and liqueurs. At the end of the tour you will be returned to the starting point in Catania.
