EXPERIENCE:

Explore the Xihuacan ceremonial center, located in the small community of Soledad de Maciel, on a guided tour from Zihuatanejo. Visit the Xihuacan Museum, the ball court, and the pyramid, and enjoy a traditional lunch.

Depart from Zihuatanejo and travel 4 km on a dirt road to the archaeological excavation site in the municipality of Petatlán, in the region of the Costa Grande in the state of Guerrero, Mexico.

Just outside Soledad de Maciel, visit the Xihuacan Museum, which was inaugurated on March 22, 2011. The museum exhibits more than 800 archaeological pieces from the pre-Hispanic era, such as statuettes, obsidian vessels, necklaces, ceramics, and lithic.

The museum integrates the collection that explains the cultural development of the ancient city that had a strong interaction with Teotihuacan during the Classic period (200 to 650 A.D.).

Continue to the ball court and the pyramid, and learn about the rural community of Soledad de Maciel. Enjoy a traditional lunch and a drink before returning to Zihuatanejo.
