
From San Cristóbal: 3-Day Adventure to the Arch of Time – El Aguacero, Chiapas, Mexico

Discover the natural beauty of Chiapas on a 3-day tour from San Cristóbal de las Casas or Tuxtla Gutiérrez. Visit the Sima de las Cotorras sinkhole, the El Aguacero natural park, and the Arch of Time. Enjoy a night of camping in the jungle and a night in a cabin in the community of Cárdenas.
Depart from San Cristóbal de las Casas or Tuxtla Gutiérrez on Day 1 and head toward the Sima de las Cotorras, a sinkhole with a depth of around 140 meters and a diameter of 160 meters. Descend about 20 meters in the chasm to see various cave paintings, including handprints painted in red and black.
Continue to El Aguacero, a natural park with a series of caves, an underground river, and a waterfall called Don Niche. To access the waterfall, descend 740 steps through dense vegetation that borders the course of the La Venta River. Spend the night at a cabin in Cárdenas.
On Day 2, leave Cárdenas to visit the famous Arch of Time. Once there, marvel at a limestone colossus standing imposingly at 158 meters high. Take in the natural scenery of the arch that hugs the La Venta River and is 255 meters long.
Afterward, immerse yourself in the exuberant jungle of El Ocote, where biodiversity will surround you in a dream setting. Camp overnight in the jungle to feel at one with nature. .
On Day 3, return to San Cristóbal de las Casas or Tuxtla Gutiérrez to end the tour.
