American Expedition Code of Conduct Spring 2025 Longhouse – Longhouses are organized in the spring and fall to provide an opportunity for daughters and their fathers to experience the joys of camping and bonding. By participating in the camping outing the daughter and father agree to the following rules which have been drafted to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants:
1. Each participant (Dad and Daughter(s) attest that they are of sound health mentally and physically in order to participate in a 48 hour longhouse.2. Fathers are responsible for their children’s behavior and their own behavior at all times. Camping is organized as a tribal activity but remains adult/parent camping event. Parents are responsible for keeping track of their children and for their children using good manners.3. Parents are responsible for the discipline of their child (children) and themselves. No playing “swords” with sticks, no fireworks, smoke bombs, or anything else that can hurt someone.4. No child can leave the assigned camp area without a parent/adult. Use the buddy system. Let your respective chief know where you are going and when you plan to return if you must leave.5. All participants (Dads & Daughters) are expected to assist with meals and cleanup and other camp duties/activities.6. The campfire will be built and maintained by adults only. Daughters are not permitted to start the fire (except under leader supervision as part of a scout achievement), and are not permitted to add wood to the fire unless under their parent’s supervision and permission.7. Combustibles and explosives are strictly not permitted in the campfire. Zero tolerance. Only the firewood may be put in the fire. Camp rules and regulations regarding fires must be followed.8. Unless accompanied by parent/adult partner scouts should consider the river and other bodies of water to be off limits except for organized activities.9. Fishing rods, guns, bows and arrows, etc. can only be utilized by scouts during approved times and under strict parental partner supervision.10. Make sure we leave the campsite cleaner than when we came.11. Let’s have fun by participating and sharing what knowledge we may have.12. Fathers and Daughters should act with appropriate decorum of a father / daughter camping event.13. Minor violations may be dealt with at the tribal level, but serious behavior violations will require a Chiefs Council where the tribal Chiefs will collectively decide if a warning, suspension or expulsion are merited. Chief’s council ruling is final.14. These rules do not supersede any local, state or national laws. Adventure guides will always fully cooperate with hosting camp officials and law officials.
