RACHMANINOFF AND THE TSAR brings to life legendary pianist composer Sergei Rachmaninoff who having safely left Russia during the 1917 revolution made his home in the United States. In 1942 at the age of 68 he applied for American citizenship and bought a home in Beverly Hills but his soul has never left Russia. Facing a terminal illness the memory of an encounter with Russias last Tsar Nicholas II and the Tsars daughter the Grand Duchess Anastasia is brought forth and a mystery about the relationship unravels. Featuring Rachmaninoffs most beautiful music played live from the Prelude in C to the Second Piano Concerto and the Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini RACHMANINOFF AND THE TSAR is mystical musical journey back in time.
