Wild Vizcaya | An Outdoor Science Lab for Families – Miami, FL

OVERVIEW

Experience Vizcaya’s gardens as they transform into an outdoor science lab! Explore the lush landscape, guided by local scientists, and discover the diverse wildlife that comes out when the sun sets.

Designed especially for families with children ages 6-12, this adventure combines art and nature to captivate curious adults and kiddos alike, fostering family connection and a deeper understanding of the natural world around us.

IMPORTANT | Orders with no child tickets will be canceled.

• Orders that do not include a “Child, 6-12” ticket may be subject to cancellation to maximize participation for families that include the intended age group.
• This program is designed for outdoor exploration in the gardens. The Main House will be closed.

ACTIVITIES + WHAT TO EXPECT:

EMBARK ON A WILDLIFE EXPEDITION

• Fun Giveaways: Each child will receive a flashlight at the gate as a gift to light their journey through Wild Vizcaya: Nocturnal!
• Herpetology Hunt: Encounter a team of biologists from the University of Miami and the fascinating reptiles they study. Guided night hikes begin every 15 minutes from 6:30-8:30 p.m. No additional ticket is required.
• Science-based Artmaking: Take part in a hands-on demonstration by a Vizcaya horticulturist about nocturnal plant reproduction. Young ones will channel their inner artist to create a momento inspired by nighttime pollinators found at Vizcaya. All materials are included with admission.

ENGAGE IN DIVERSE AND INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES

• Sea Turtle Conservation: Dive into the fascinating world of South Florida’s sea turtles with exciting demonstrations by Miami-Dade County’s marine biologists who protect them. Spin the trivia wheel and test your knowledge.
• Coral Restoration: Participate in hands-on activities about glowing creatures of our coral reefs.
• Wildlife Hospital: Discover how injured animals are cared for and returned to the wild. Pet a couple of animal ambassadors as a vet tells you their stories.
• Miami-Dade Public Library: Enjoy a story circle about a special nighttime animal and make a craft inspired by it. Get your library card while you’re at it!

SAVOR THE FLAVORS AND VIEWS

• Indulge in delicious bites and beverages available for purchase throughout the evening at a pop-up food and drink kiosk by the Vizcaya Café in the Service Area.
• Enjoy light music streaming throughout the gardens to enhance the lively feel of the evening as you stroll with your family through Vizcaya’s gardens.

• Prices: $15 for adults (13+), $5 for children (6-12), FREE for children (5 and under)
