Embark on a 5-day journey through Chiapas, exploring the Lacandon Jungle, ancient Mayan ruins, and charming towns. Discover wildlife in Sumidero Canyon, indigenous traditions in San Cristobal, and the beauty of Agua Azul Waterfalls.
Day 1
Meeting at Tuxtla Gutiérrez Airport. ( 40 minutes later ) Start with an exciting boat ride through the Sumidero Canyon, home to a variety of wildlife and imposing cliffs. Explore the colonial beauty of Chiapa de Corzo before delving into the cultural treasures of San Cristóbal de las Casas. Check inn your hotel
Day 2
City tour of San Cristobal, visiting the Church of Santo Domingo, which is considered the most attractive in the town. You will also visit the Mega Plaza of Crafts in the Atrios of Santo Domingo and the Church of La Caridad. We will continue to visit the Central Park and the Cathedral, we visit an Amber workshop, and we continue to visit the Indigenous Communities of Zinacantan and San Juan Chamula. Return to San Cristobal and free afternoon.
Day 3
Immerse yourself in the heart of nature by visiting the impressive Agua Azul and Misol Ha waterfalls. Enjoy the tranquility of the lush surroundings. Transfer to your hotel in Palenque.
Day 4
Early departure from your hotel to visit the most important jungle in North America for its size and biodiversity (Lacandon Jungle). Today we go to see the Archaeological Zone of Bonampak (famous for having the best preserved murals of the Mayan Culture) we continue to Frontera Corozal where we will take a private boat to navigate the Usumacinta River which is the natural border between Guatemala and Mexico. We arrive at Yaxchilan which is located in a jungle environment, we will have wildlife sightings (normally it is possible to observe howler monkeys and spider monkeys, see and hear a great variety of birds). Return to Frontera Corozal, time for lunch and return to Palenque.
Day 5
Departure to the Archaeological Zone of Palenque, this is the jewel of the Mayan civilization in Chiapas, its surroundings are jungle and 4 natural springs run through the area. After seeing the most interesting buildings (The Palace, The Temple of the Inscriptions, the Temple of the Red Queen and the temples of the Cross Complex) we will have an ecological tour to reach the Cascada de la Reyna and go to the site museum, which houses many of the original pieces of this archaeological site, you can admire the size of the replica of the Sarcophagus of Pakal who ruled Palenque from 603 to 683 AD Pakal is the best known King in the 5 countries where the Mayan culture settled (Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Mexico), return to your hotel to get ready and transfer to Villa hermosa Airport.
