EXPERIENCE

Table Mountain is over a kilometer high above the sea and is the new addition to the 7 world wonders of nature. A cable car with a rotating floor runs horizontally from the lower cable station to the upper cable station where your guide will escort you on the circular Table Mountain trail pointing out and explaining all the important landmarks, fauna and the unique flora that only exist here.

Bo-kaap is a historical residential area starting from Buitengracht street and creeping up the Signal hill. Stone cobbled streets runs steeply towards the mountains along rows of the famous colorful Cape Dutch style buildings while several mosques dominates the skyline in a fashion never seen anywhere else in the country. Your guide will give you a short walking tour telling about the people that lives here, their food and culture.

From Bokaap, we will drive own Buitengragcht to get to Adderly street which has for many years, been and still is Cape town’s most decorated street. A stroll into Adderly street has surely recieved more attention than any other street in Cape town city through masonry, landscaping and work of sculpture. Your guide will walk you down Adderley Street foot path unpacking all the fascinating facts and stories about this old avenue.

The Castle of good hope is the oldest standing colonial building in South Africa and spans over 350 years of history. The castle has over the years, simultaneously served as the Dutch East India administration center at the Cape, the headquarters of the South African army in the Western cape and currently, a military museum. Your guide will walk with you answering all your questions and should you be interested in art, the governor’s quarters has a selection of collections that are not to be missed.

From the castle, your tour guide will walk you to District six museum via the Grand parade and church square where a great detail pertaining to the forced removals from district six are housed before moving on to the Company gardens for another walking tour with your tour guide.

After covering the Company gardens, the tour will carry on to the bustling Saint Georges mall where attentively designed Art deco and Cape revival style buildings of the mid 1800s to the early 1900s gives this street a feel never seen anywhere in the inner city. Historical monuments such as the Bishop Robert Grey monument and a piece of the Bellin wall are also some of the things that draws passerby attention. At the end of your walk along the Saint Georges mall will be the boisterous Green market square, where drummers, buskers, and vendors trade in a variety of handmade local crafts. The stone cobbled square is surrounded by several fascinating Gothic and Baroque style buildings giving one a clear imagination of what the late 19th century Cape town city might have looked like. Your tour will end here and you may choose to either walk back to the vehicle with your guide or stay here for shopping at the Green market square.
