About Joel Ansett

Ansett’s strength as a writer lies in his ability to cut to the heart of emotion through simple, effective metaphor. His method, he explains, is to “write lyrics that are super accessible but carry a lot of depth at the same time… For the listener, my goal is just to try and lighten whatever burdens [they] may be carrying. To help the listener grieve and heal.” It’s an approach that has earned him a wide range of accolades. His debut LP reached #9 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart, while HuffPost noted that his music “speaks for itself,” and American Songwriter heralded “his ability to blend folk and R ’n B together with gentle aplomb.” His work has led to placements on Netflix’s Love Is Blind and Marvel’s The Punisher, and his songwriting has earned a first-place finish in the 2017 International Acoustic Music Awards.
