We Visit: Mangrove Estuary + 2 fresh water spring + a short walk along a path + Crocodile Area + Flamingo Feeding Zone + Salt Factory (Backside) + Clay Extraction Area + Private Virgin Beach.

EXPERIENCE:

Discover and explore the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve with this deluxe version of a 4-hour boat tour, accompanied by a certified guide throughout the journey. You will be able to enjoy the nature of the place and observe the flora and fauna of the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve, such as the extensive mangrove barrier, different bird species from the region like the brown pelican, cormorants, magnificent frigate bird, and various types of herons, among
other birds, and of course, the Caribbean pink flamingo, which is the main attraction. For this reason, many tourists travel from far away to observe this majestic bird, which is also emblematic of the place; with luck, we may encounter among the mangroves the largest reptile on the face of the earth, “the crocodile”, if we find it, we will be able to see it near the
boat.
The next point we will visit are the beautiful pink lagoons located in the second most important salt factory in Mexico, you will be given a brief explanation about the salt production process, and you will have a few free minutes to take photos.
Later, we will move on to clay extraction. At this point, you will learn about the techniques that the Mayans used to obtain clay, which consist of making holes in specific areas until finding this natural element. Then we will proceed to apply white clay/mud that works as an exfoliant, sunscreen, and insect repellent, and the best of all is that it is natural and organic. It contains salt minerals, seaweed, sulfur, calcium from shells, and snails that disintegrate,
acting as a natural exfoliant leaving your skin smooth and soft. Even the Mayans used it as sunscreen to be able to work all day under the sun. (The application of the clay is optional and depends on each person’s taste).
The next point to visit is a majestic freshwater spring called Chiquilá, unique in the world as it connects with the sea arm. The type of water it has is brackish. There you will be able to swim for a few minutes and remove the clay, to then take a short walk along a path where we can observe a small freshwater spring and if we are lucky we can even find crocodiles. To finish the tour, we will visit a beautiful virgin beach located in the Gulf of Mexico, so that
you can swim, and above all, enjoy the warm water and the beautiful landscape that nature provides us, if we are lucky we can find dolphins swimming near the place.
