Charleston: Historic Residential Horse and Carriage Tour – Charleston, South Carolina
Step back in time and see Charleston from a horse-drawn carriage. Learn about the city’s history from a licensed professional guide.
EXPERIENCE:
See the historic city of Charleston from a historic transportation method—by horse-drawn carriage. You’ll pass by old homes, see decorative ironwork, and learn the history behind city attractions. With a historic Charleston carriage tour departing every 30 minutes, it’s easy to fit this guided tour into your sightseeing itinerary. Plus, meeting at the stables gives you more time to interact with the horses, too.
For this carriage tour, meet in Charleston’s historic district at 20 Anson Street, in the stable opposite Market Street, and get ready to experience the streets the same way as those of the past did—by horse-drawn carriage. Carriages leave for this guided tour every 30 minutes, and you’ll want to check in 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time to turn in your voucher. There is a horse stable at the start of the tour, which you can explore before or after your tour.
Enjoy the views of the historic city from your carriage as your guide, licensed by the city, points out important landmarks and attractions and tells stories from the past. You’ll travel through Charleston’s historic district and cover two to three miles (3.2 to 4.8 kilometers) of its scenic streets.
