Discover the wonder of the redwoods at Prairie Creek State Park on a guided hiking tour. This 2-mile hike is an easy stroll through some of the oldest growth forests in the world.

EXPERIENCE:

Located at Prairie Creek State Park, the magnificent redwood giant tower over 300 feet high, with big majestic meadows grazed by herds of Rosevelt elk and black-tailed deer.

The undisturbed tranquil creek feeds these redwoods and wildlife while creating spawning beds for native salmon. It’s as epic as it sounds—the whole world seems to hush as you step into groves of some of the world’s tallest trees. And with a local guide along for the adventure, your eyes will be opened to the wonders of the forest like never before.

This trail is loaded with unmarked famous old growth redwoods that have only been discovered in the last 30 years. One of those trees is the 1,685-year-old Iluvatar, which towers at over 300 ft tall and is the giant redwood featured on the cover of National Geographic’s October 2009 issue.

There are also hidden unmarked groves, one of which is Atlas Grove. This single grove has more redwoods over 300 ft than any other grove.

This is a family-friendly hike and is accessible to disabled persons as well. Because the hike is pretty flat, it’s ideal for families with small kids, or anyone who wants to go slow, soak up the wonder of the redwoods, and have snack breaks along the way.
