The Urban Financial Services Coalition – Richmond Chapter invites you to our 35th Anniversary Celebration, honoring the legacy of Richmond’s first Black bankers and celebrating today’s leaders who continue to advance financial opportunity and economic empowerment.

About the Event
Join us for an evening of history, inspiration, and impact as we:
- Honor Richmond’s first Black bankers: John Mitchell Jr. (Merchants Savings Bank, 1902; newspaper editor) and Maggie Lena Walker (St. Luke Penny Savings Bank, 1903).
- Recognize today’s leaders – special presentation
- Hear from our Keynote Speaker, Thomas Ranson, Virginia President of Truist Bank.
- Welcome Special Guest, John Mitchell , sharing an update on a new play about the legendary John Mitchell and his family’s powerful legacy.
- Launch “Healthy, Wealthy & Wise”, a groundbreaking initiative addressing health and economic disparities in underserved communities, created in partnership with James River Valley (VA) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated.

Proceeds from this event benefit the UFSC Richmond Scholarship Program, administered by the Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation in honor of UFSC Richmond founder John Nolley. Scholarship recipients will also gain access to the Mark I Youth Leadership Program—a week-long leadership development experience and scholastic competition.
