Don’t miss this upcoming event in San Francisco, CA. Happening on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 1255 Battery St Suite 120. Doors open at 9:00 AM.

Walk through some of SF’s most iconic neighborhoods! We’ll make our way from Levi’s Plaza, to Telegraph Hill, and end at Francisco Park.

SF City Guides is proud to be a walk designer/leader for SF Stairway Month and craft a special walk that will take you through some of San Francisco’s most iconic neighborhoods. We will start at Levi’s Plaza, head up the Filbert Street stairs into Telegraph Hill, down through North Beach and finish on Russian Hill at Francisco Park. You’ll wander through historic districts, see diverse architecture, explore wooded enclaves, delight in charming green spaces claimed and cared for by residents, and be wowed by picture postcard vistas.

The walk will be challenging in the beginning (Filbert and Greenwich stairways), then moderately strenuous. It includes stairways, hills, and a mix of pavement and dirt paths.

This walk will be led by Barrie Simpson and Dennis Wong, joined by other SFCG guides that specialize in this area of the city. Get ready! They will be treating you to “only-in-San Francisco” stories. SFCG is a nearly 50-year-old nonprofit organization that offers over 70 free walks where you can learn the history of the city, about its architecture, murals, and much more.

Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and snacks, and we encourage you to pack a lunch to relax with your fellow walkers in Francisco Park where we have reserved tables with snacks and beverages. There will be a restroom stop about 30 minutes from the start and another at the end. Start and finish locations are public transit accessible.

Note: This walk will begin at 1255 Battery and end at Francisco Park.

This walk is a part of SF Stairway Month which is hosted by the Civic Joy Fund and organized by Glen Park Beautiful. Thank you to our partners at the Crosstown Trails, WalkSF, San Francisco City Guides, SF Travel, and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.
